The SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny PSP ROM comes as an ISO disc image. PPSSPP opens the file on Android and PC. Broken Destiny does not build its solo game around character endings or a familiar Arcade ladder. It points toward a list of strangers instead. Each Quick Match entry has a made-up name and a win-loss record; beside it sits a custom fighter and a title. The opponents are controlled by the CPU, yet choosing one feels less anonymous than accepting the next fight in a fixed sequence.
If the file arrives in an archive, extract it until the .iso appears, then stop. PPSSPP reads that disc image without unpacking its contents. On Android, browse to its folder from Games. On a computer, the Load option opens it directly. An ISO does not need to be placed inside PSP/GAME.
Many arenas return from Soulcalibur IV, and the orchestral score survived the move to PSP. The announcer still treats every round like a grand event. That sense of scale holds even when a session lasts for one duel.

The opponent list replaces a ladder
With no standard Arcade mode, Quick Match is the closest route to a conventional duel. Defeat a profile and the title beside its name becomes available. The list does not lead to internet play; its lobby appearance is theater. Actual player-versus-player fighting sits under Versus and uses local ad hoc wireless between nearby PSP systems.
Trials tracks a multiplier as closely as the health bars. Repeated hits push it upward in Trial of Attack. Trial of Defense waits for the reply after a block, not the block alone. Endless brings in another opponent whenever the current one falls, while each hit received drags the multiplier back down.
The Gauntlet may end before a full round develops. Its non-canon comic scenes connect more than 80 short lessons rather than a normal character campaign. A chapter may begin with almost no health and a throw that must be escaped. Another starts during a stun. Interruptions and Guard Impacts appear later. Training leaves room to repeat those commands without the failure screen returning every few seconds.

All 28 fighters are waiting from the start
None of Broken Destiny’s 28 fighters needs to be unlocked. The regular Soulcalibur IV lineup is here, minus its bonus fighters and Star Wars crossover guests. Character Creation remains, but clothes and weapons no longer alter performance. A created fighter still borrows an existing combat style. The outfit can be chosen without checking a stat sheet.
The face buttons handle guard, kicks, and two basic weapon attacks: horizontal and vertical. A sidestep may clear one strike but run into the next. Weapon reach decides whether the reply lands at all. Block too many attacks and the Soul Gauge weakens. Armor may break during the round. Once a Soul Crush occurs, a Critical Finish becomes possible.
Kratos reaches beyond normal sword distance with chained blades and can leave the ground using the Icarus Wings. Dampierre fights much closer, concealing spring-mounted daggers beneath his wrists and faking stumbles, falls, or pain. Against Kratos, retreat may not clear the blades. When Dampierre falls, rushing him may be exactly what he wanted.
