Grand Prix and Versus races use 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc classes. Higher classes make every kart faster, so turns arrive sooner and recovery after an item hit becomes more important. Mirror mode also flips the tracks horizontally while using 150cc speed.

Mission Mode Breaks Away from Normal Cups

Besides Grand Prix, the game includes Time Trial, Versus, Battle, and Mission modes. Mission mode is useful because it moves away from simple cup racing and gives the player separate tasks instead of only chasing first place across a full set of tracks.
