Pokemon Y ROM (3DS/CIA) on ROMsRetro comes in decrypted CIA and 3DS with direct links for Citra (PC) and Citra MMJ (Android). Launched on October 12, 2013, for Nintendo 3DS and built by Game Freak, this entry pushed the series into true 3D with a moving camera, lively battle animation, and a customizable protagonist. It also brought key firsts—Fairy type, horde/sky encounters, Super Training, Pokemon-Amie, and Mega Evolutions that can flip a fight mid-turn—making it a great fit for a clean emulator run.

What you’re getting here

You’ll find decrypted CIA and 3DS builds, so Citra on desktop and Citra MMJ on Android start without keys or patches. USA/EUR releases include English; choose whichever you prefer. Each link ships with an MD5/SHA-1 so you can verify the file after saving and keep a trusted local backup for future moves. CIA installs into Citra with box art and tidy library sorting; 3DS is a single image for “Load File.” Once decrypted, performance is the same. If a copy won’t open or closes on launch, it’s almost always an encrypted dump meant for original hardware—use the decrypted download here and relaunch.

From file to first battle

On Windows, macOS, or Linux, install the current Citra, import the CIA or open the 3DS image, then raise internal resolution to 2–3× on mid-range GPUs (4× if you have headroom). Keep V-Sync on for smooth pans. In System, leave JIT enabled and switch on the accuracy toggle often labeled “Accurate Multiplication” to avoid odd lighting or battle artifacts. Map a controller once and save a per-game profile; menus and move timing feel far better than keyboard only. On Android, add your ROM folder in Citra MMJ, install the CIA or open the 3DS file, start at 1–2× resolution (3× on recent flagships), enable hardware shaders and the same accuracy option, and turn on available async settings to reduce first-run shader hitches. A Bluetooth pad keeps inputs consistent in longer sessions.

If something feels off

Pokemon Y is built for 30 FPS; brief stutter in early areas is normal while shaders compile and fades quickly. For a cleaner image, raise internal resolution rather than heavy filters that blur text and UI. Crackly audio usually disappears after a small bump to the audio buffer or by enabling the emulator’s async/audio-sync option. Moving a save to another device is simple file placement—open the emulator’s save data location, drop the files into the Pokemon Y title folder, and launch once so they register. Use backups from games you own and keep the checksum-verified copy as your master when you mirror or move files.
