Pokemon Goldene Edition HeartGold Rom

Pokemon Goldene Edition HeartGold Rom is the German-language Nintendo DS release of Pokémon HeartGold. Nintendo released this RPG in Germany in 2010, with the dialogue, menus, moves, items and character names translated into German. New Bark Town appears as Neuborkia, Professor Elm is Professor Lind, and Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile are named Endivie, Feurigel and Karnimani. The adventure and battle system otherwise match the English release.

After choosing a starter, the first healthy Pokémon in your party walks behind you throughout Johto. Its reaction changes with its mood, friendship level and surroundings, which gives the team more personality outside battle. Your rival enters the story after stealing another of Professor Lind’s Pokémon. He builds a stronger team as you collect badges, but his attitude toward his partners takes much longer to change.

Whitney Makes Goldenrod the First Major Test

Bugsy’s Scyther can punish an unprepared early team, but Whitney’s Miltank is the first battle that regularly stops progress. Attract can disable male Pokémon, Milk Drink restores its health and Rollout becomes stronger each time it connects. A female Pokémon avoids Attract, while paralysis or a Fighting-type move can prevent Miltank from controlling the whole fight.

Gym progress is often tied to problems elsewhere in Johto. Sudowoodo blocks the road beyond Route 36, Jasmine stays with the sick Ampharos at Olivine Lighthouse, and Clair refuses to give up the Rising Badge until you complete the trial in Dragon’s Den. These interruptions keep the journey from becoming a simple run through eight Gym buildings.

The Red Gyarados Leads Back to Team Rocket

Team Rocket first appears at Slowpoke Well, but the Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage reveals the larger plan. After catching or defeating it, you join Lance and enter the hidden base beneath Mahogany Town. Persian statues trigger alarms, Rocket Grunts guard the switches, and the transmitter remains active until the three Electrode powering your side of it are defeated.

The group later takes over Goldenrod Radio Tower. Petrel disguises himself as the station director, the real director is held beneath the city, and the Card Key opens the blocked upper floors. Once Team Rocket is removed, the director gives you the Rainbow Wing. The five Kimono Girls later test your party in consecutive battles before giving you the Clear Bell, opening the way to Ho-Oh at the top of Bell Tower.

Eight More Badges Wait in Kanto

Defeating the Elite Four does not end HeartGold. It opens Kanto, giving this entry in the NDS ROMs collection eight more Gyms, the missing Machine Part at the Power Plant and the Magnet Train connection between the two regions. This second half is less linear than Johto and lets you approach several Gym Leaders in a different order.

All sixteen badges unlock Mt. Silver, where Red waits with one of the strongest teams in the game. The Pokéathlon, Battle Frontier, Bug-Catching Contest and Ruins of Alph add other reasons to stay, while daily events and trainer rematches bring you back to earlier routes. The first credits arrive well before many of HeartGold’s toughest battles and optional areas have opened.
