Remember Pokemon Emerald on the Game Boy Advance? It’s still a fan favorite, and now you can experience it again using a Pokemon Emerald Rom with a GBA emulator on your current device. No cartridge needed, just a bit of setup and you’re back in Hoenn.
The ROM is pretty much what you’d expect—it plays just like the original. You’ll get to explore the region, take on Gym Leaders, and of course, catch a whole roster of Pokémon. But Emerald has always stood out from Ruby and Sapphire thanks to some extra features—like the Battle Frontier, which adds a serious challenge, and a few rare legendary encounters you won’t see in the other versions.
If you don’t have your old GBA lying around—or never had one in the first place—grabbing a Pokemon Emerald Rom is a great way to see what all the hype was about. It’s still a solid game, even by today’s standards.
