General Morden is stirring up trouble again, this time on PlayStation Vita. Metal Slug 3 turns each mission into a fast run-and-gun shootout, with the PS Vita PKG file format keeping everything in a compact digital package that fits neatly into a modern ROM library.

Installing the Metal Slug 3 PS Vita PKG
When you have created a backup of your own game as a clean Metal Slug 3 PS Vita PKG, it can be installed on a PlayStation Vita with the proper custom firmware tools. After installation, it behaves like any other Vita title, using the analog stick and face buttons for precise movement, jumps and grenade throws. The handheld screen shows off detailed pixel art and smooth animation, which makes enemy patterns easier to read while everything is exploding around you.
Playing the PKG in PS Vita emulators
The same PS Vita PKG file can also be loaded in compatible emulators such as Vita3K on Windows or Android. On PC you can raise the internal resolution, remap the controls to a controller or keyboard, and use save states to practice the tougher sections. Android builds let you pair a Bluetooth gamepad and play Metal Slug 3 on a phone or tablet while keeping the same save data. With one organized PKG file, you can move between real Vita hardware and emulators without rebuilding your collection each time.
Campaign and squad
You lead one of four familiar heroes – Marco, Tarma, Eri, or Fio – across a set of side-scrolling stages packed with soldiers, mutants and odd creatures. Prisoners of war wait to be rescued in hidden corners of each area, often dropping extra weapons or items when you free them. The levels move quickly, but there are plenty of small details in the backgrounds and alternate doors or tunnels that send you down different routes.
Weapons, routes, and vehicles
Metal Slug 3 keeps the action varied by throwing new tools at you every few steps. Heavy machine guns, rocket launchers, flame shots and spread weapons stack on top of grenades and close-range attacks, so the screen fills with projectiles in seconds. Vehicles are a big part of the fun: the classic Slug tank shares the spotlight with walking robots, underwater craft and even animals like camels or elephants outfitted with guns. Some console editions also add extra modes such as Storming the Mothership or Chubby Isle Paradiso, once the main five missions are cleared, giving you a different twist on the core gameplay.
